On Island Time

To Hell with your bathing costumes! You don't wear them when you have a bath, do you?

After 9 days without wheels, a mechanic was finally flown onto the island yesterday to fix the small truck that we will need to tow the slasher, get tools and equipment to sites and cruise around in when we don’t feel like walking - we have been doing a lot of walking.

The weather the past few days has been amazing - sunny and warm. We have generally been doing some work and odd jobs in the mornings and have then filled our afternoons with hiking, attempts at fishing, scrabble (Dan won of course), reading, photography and cooking. I have even done some baking - both successfully and unsuccessfully.

We have had a steady stream of visiting yachts and last night we joined a couple in East Cove for a BBQ. There have been days in between with no one but ourselves - just enough time for a brief (and very chilly) skinny dip in after working up a sweat sweeping sand from the walking track (photo not included)!

The vegie garden has been keeping us supplied with fresh produce and we found a stash of home brew in the study. Oh and yes, in case anyone is concerned, we have a three month supply of toilet paper!

East Cove - good spot for a skinny dip when there are no yachts

The lighthouse - a pretty good workout walking up to it.

Looking down the lighthouse from the 3rd landing - we both felt pretty nervous climbing to the top.
